Who is the typical unfaithful person in 2016 Britain?

Launched in December 2009 in France, Gleeden is the first European dating site openly offering those who are married or in a relationship the opportunity to indulge in an extramarital adventure. With its success, this dating troublemaker currently brings together a community of nearly 3 million members worldwide, and thus has the largest database of information on unfaithful people (whether confirmed or in the process of becoming one). From these data, the site has been able to draw up a typical profile of the Gleeden member: age, occupation, personality, favourite sports, sexual preferences, astrological sign … all the factors revealed upon registration have been scrutinized. We will let you discover them.

Who is the typical Everyman unfaithful person?

No need to be Tiger Woods, Hugh Grant or Jude Law for tasting the forbidden fruit. Maybe you are surrounded by long-time adulterers without knowing it! According to data collected on Gleeden.com, the typical British unfaithful person is a 41-year-old man living in London. He is blond with brown eyes and his height is 1.81 meters. Indeed, the typical unfaithful person is still male. Although increasingly more women indulge in an extramarital affair, 60% of registered Gleeden users are male.

An executive, he earns between 50,000 and 75,000 pounds per year. He loves going to the cinema, going to concerts and travelling regularly. A sporty person, he particularly enjoys football and tennis. Of the Aries sign, he declares himself as open to any exciting situation, but favours short relationships. He appreciates romantic sex and is interested in the use of sex toys. As for personality, the unfaithful English person defines himself as open-minded, active and… earnest.

Faithfulness lasts three years

After how long in a relationship does one decide to go and see whether the grass is greener elsewhere by registering on Gleeden? And why? Based on the responses of nearly 5,000 members*, it seems that the 3-year threshold is the key fidelity threshold. Indeed, the majority of respondents (42%) say they have registered between the fourth and the seventh year of their relationship. But 18% surrender before the third anniversary of their relationship, while 15% of respondents admits to faltering in the first year! Only 11% patiently wait ten years before being tempted.

While infidelity did not wait for the Internet to exist, it is now much more accessible than it was a few years ago. According to a TNS Sofres study, we average 4.7 affaires in our lives. But social networking and dating sites have revolutionised meetings and that figure could grow very quickly. This is certainly the thinking of the psychology lecturers from the Open University in Britain. Their recent study suggests that the Internet greatly facilitates adultery and that the temptations are everywhere on the web.
