New Year’s Eve is fast approaching, and the time has come to get back on the dance floor to welcome in 2016. Gleeden<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span>, the number one website for extramarital affairs with over 2.8 million members, has conducted a new survey across Europe to find out the intentions of couples at the beginning of the year. New Year’s resolutions ? Unfaithfulness? Discover now, the responses of over 6000 respondents.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

New Year, the night of all temptations<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n


\nThe end of year holidays are a time when we look out for everyone else and take care of our family and friends. But with the turn of the new year , it’s time to focus on yourself and your own desires again. And so, New Year’s Eve is the source of many temptations which are sometimes hard to resist. To learn more, the first extra-marital dating site designed by women polled its members about their wishes on this special evening.<\/span><\/p>\n

More than seven out of ten respondents believe that New Year’s Eve is a real test for couples. 64% also confessed to having crossed the limits of infidelity on that evening. Among them, 44% attribute this misdemeanor to desires to change, felt over the new year period. 32% acted on a whim, just for fun. Finally, a quarter evoked the easy excuse of a drunken night. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Big resolutions, small infidelities? <\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

But these small lapses are not confined solely to New Year’s Eve. Although each new year brings new resolutions and small changes to improve daily life, it is sometimes difficult to stick to them.<\/span><\/p>\n

YouGov, the number one international market research group, conducted a survey on more than 3000 people to find out what the most common resolutions were<\/font><\/a>. The survey found that at the beginning of the new year, most were related to the body and well-being. At the top of the list, we find the extremely popular traditional resolution to lose weight, made by 29% of men and 40% women; and the desire to eat healthier, for 26% of men and 36% women. But the study also shows that most people are no longer keeping their resolutions, just a month after making them. One in ten women admit to not even keeping it for one week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oh yes, it’s difficult to resist temptations and easy to indulge, especially at the start of the year. And the Gleeden.com study won’t convince you otherwise. Infidelity could even be one of the most common unspoken resolutions!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

January, the month of infidelity <\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Most members surveyed by Gleeden.com (65%) admit that their wandering desires are stronger in January. These results are explained by different reasons. For almost half of them, the new year is the perfect time to make a fresh start and have a change of scene, which causes them to turn to infidelity. 31% of surveyed members explain that it is the end of year festivities that made them realise that their relationship wasn’t working anymore. Indeed, this family time is often stressful for couples, especially when the relationship is no longer rosy. So January is synonymous with freedom and many couples separate, whilst others prefer to turn to infidelity to compensate for the lack of freedom. Finally, 20% of them attribute their infidelity to the anxiety of seeing time go by so quickly and the desire to make the most of it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sol\u00e8ne Paillet, head of Gleeden communication, reacts to this survey:<\/strong> “Last January, we noted a record number of connections to our site during the first few days of the year. This shows that the need to escape everyday life and to regain some freedom is widespread after the holidays. For many people, Gleeden is simply a way to reconnect with themselves after a period of being locked up with family and their partner<\/em>“.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, beware of the temptations at the beginning of the year. Although for some, the small infidelities won’t wait for the month of January…<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n
