37% of Brits committed an affair during the lockdown while following the ease of the restrictions more cheaters are keen to meet their lover without maintaining physical distance.

A pandemic is not enough to set apart discreet relationships and stop people from having affair. Despite the government’s strict regulations on social distancing, unfaithful partners do not abstain from their clandestine and carnal pleasure.

Gleeden – the first portal for extramarital encounters in Europe made by women with over 6 million members of which over 250,000 in the UK – conducted a survey on 1.085 of its members in the UK in order to investigate cheating behavior during the lockdown. The survey which ran from April 27th to May 14th (the day after the ease of restrictions in Britain) brought to light the real face of infidelity during the lockdown.

37% of Brits (61% men and 39% women) admitted experiencing physical contact with their lover and mistress since the very start of the lockdown in March. Of them, 29% considered their lover as an “exception” to the social distancing rules and maintained regular meetings over the last two months. 38% confessed having secretly met their lover 2 to 3 times, while 33% declared breaking the rules only once. However, as the lockdown eases unfaithful partners are clearly more inclined to breach the rules. 72%, in fact, confessed that the ease of the measurement has been a strong temptation, as well as, a great opportunity to take advantage from. Most women (78%) used the excuse for meeting up with family members, while men commonly opted for cycling or hiking as an excuse to stay away for long hours (81%).

Nonetheless, not all cheaters disobey government rules. 28% of the surveyed members, stated being cautious about the risks and declared preferring to maintain their contact strictly online until the end of the lockdown. They explained to take advantage of every moment the partner is asleep or outside the house to get in touch with the lover by text or calls. Also, work conferences are another frequent excuse to keep the partner and other members of the family away from the room for a while and enjoy intimacy in the room.
