Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. On the agenda: romantic dinners, bouquets of flowers and fiery hot declarations. But according to the new study by Gleeden, the European leader in extramarital encounters with nearly 3.4 million members, this festival of love hides another. Known as “Mistress Day” in the United States and held on 13th February each year, it is the perfect day to give pride of place to extramarital affairs. Explanation.
71% of unfaithful men will celebrate Valentine’s Day with their lover
To find out the habits of unfaithful men on Valentine’s Day, Gleeden surveyed nearly 8,000 of its European members. 27% of them plan to celebrate the day of love with just their spouse, while more than half of them will celebrate it with both their wife and their mistress (52%). Finally, 14% of them will celebrate Valentine’s Day with just their mistress!
Already widespread across the Atlantic, the trend of National Mistress Day seems to be getting more popular in Europe every year. And the members of Gleeden won’t say otherwise! 69% of them have precisely chosen 13th February to celebrate Valentine’s Day with their mistress. It seems that these gentlemen are more romantic than it seems, and see an opportunity to show their affection to their illegitimate partner even before celebrating their love with their spouse.
More generous with their mistress
Bouquets of red roses, jewellery, lingerie… men have the responsibility of pampering their loved one on Valentine’s Day. Here again, if their spouse is entitled to a gift, so is their mistress. And once again, the latter seems to be playing her cards right.
While the majority of men surveyed will spend between 50 and 100 Euros on a gift for their spouse (52%), they are willing to spend more than 200 Euros on their mistress (36%)! When you’re in love, money doesn’t matter.
Flowers and chocolates for my wife… lingerie for my mistress
When it comes to gifts, most spouses receive a bouquet of flowers (66%), chocolates (54%) or perfume (23%), while mistresses will mostly receive sexy lingerie (51%) or a sex toy (37%). Yes, when it comes to the extramarital affair, the carnal aspect seems to take over.
A restaurant with the official partner… a hotel with the mistress!
On Valentine’s Day, it is necessary to surprise your beloved by planning a romantic evening with them. But again, the Gleeden study reveals that the plans made for the spouse are far from the same as those for the mistress.
The majority of men surveyed will take their wives to a restaurant for a romantic dinner (49%) or to the cinema (21%). With mistresses on the other hand, once again, it is the physical aspect of the relationship that prevails, with 48% of them being given a passionate evening in a hotel room.
Sex and Valentine’s Day
Finally, Gleeden asked its male members about their sexual plans for this Valentine’s Day! Although 54% of them think that they will make love with their wife on Valentine’s Day, a majority will do this out of habit (43%) or to make her happy (31%), while 26% will do so out of desire.
Finally, an overwhelming 87% of unfaithful men plan to make love with their mistress on Valentine’s Day.
A tip: keep an eye on your husband on 13th February!
